The spirit of Ekushey is defiance against the wrongful might and fighting for what is right

I am not a poet and don’t know how to write poetry. But about an hour ago, I developed an urge to write something on Ekushey February, so I started writing. But after a few minutes, I realised that it sounds better if the sentences are in verse form rather than prose. This is the end result.

A poem for Ekushey

The spirit of Ekushey is defiance against the wrongful might and fighting for what is right.

What I write on Facebook is mostly carefully calibrated, based on sincerity and a clear thought process.
This makes it difficult for anyone to dismiss or discredit me so easily on ethical, factual or logical grounds or with respect to my integrity.
I never deliberately lie, although I make mistakes.
When I post something somewhat impulsively, the size of any mistakes I make is unlikely to be large.
This is because the entirety of my being is hardwired for honesty and fearlessness.
Also, as what I write is grounded in considered thought, sincerity and firm foundations, I can argue my case with an incredible degree of confidence.
This does not mean that I can’t be criticised for my views.
As human fallibility always limits what we can know and do, just like others, I make mistakes too.
Objections to my views, whether sincere or motivated, always help me improve my knowledge and the nuances of my thoughts, so I welcome and look forward to receiving them, regardless of their kind.
But insincere and unethical responses to what I write will only experience an immediate, swift and solid reply.
The spirit of Ekushey is defiance against the wrongful might and fighting for what is right.
So, when I see people foolishly behaving in un-Ekushey ways and knowingly or unknowingly adopting fascist ways, I feel somewhat sad but defeated!
